Teacher education from Teacher Training College, Hjørring, 1967. M.Sc. in Philisophy and Mathematics at Copenhagen University 1975. Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at the National Univetrsity of Education 1982. Since 1982 Lecturer at Aalborg University, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. From 1987-1989 Lecturer at Institute for Communication, Aalborg University. Studied at Department of Education, University of Cambridge 1990-1991. Doc.scient. from Aalborg University 1995. Professor at the National University of Education, Institute for Mathematics, Physisc, Chemistry and Information 1996. Member of the editing commitee for Nordic Studies in Mathematics Education (NOMAD) and for For the Learning of Mathematics. Member of the BACOMET-group.
Ole studies 'mathematics' from a philosophical and epistemological angle to continue to develop a critical mathematics education. Here Ole participates in several international projects with, among others, Brasil, Colombia, South Africa, and Greece.

Helle Alrø
M.Sc. in German from Aalborg University 1982. Ph.D. in Language and Communication 1988. Lecturer at the Institute for Communication Aalborg Universitet from 1982. Education in Bodydynamic Character Theory and Analysis, BodyNamic Institute 1992-93.
Helle has the last 15 years done research and taught in interpersonel communication. She has lately done research in communication in mathematics education at the 'Folkeskole' (9-10 years of ground schooling) and its importance for the pupils' learning of mathematics. The project began in 1992-94 and was related to the "SHF-initiative" (Mathematics Education and Democracy).

Morten Blomhøj
M.Sc. in Mathematics and Biology at Roskilde University, 1987. Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at The National University of Education 1992. From 1991-1993 scientific secretary, part-time, for the initiative "Mathematics Education and Democracy". From 1992 Lecturer in Mathematics, with Mathematics Education and research area, at IMFUFA, Roskilde University.
Morten har through the last 10 years done research in mathematics in the Danish "Folkeskole" (ground school) and High School. He has particularly worked with the interplay between theory and practice, mathematical modelling and the problems connecting to learning the concept of a function. Morten now does research in the use of computers in the teaching and learning of mathematics. He chaired the Danish society "Forum for Matematikkens Didaktik" (1996-2000) and he is presently co-director of Centre for Research in Learning Mathematics - a four-year research initiative founded by the Danish Research Council for the Humanities. He is the chair of the Local Organising Committee for ICME-10 and also a member of the Nordic Contact Committee.

Iben Maj Christiansen
M.Sc. in Communication and Mathematics at Roskilde University 1990. Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, Aalborg University 1995. From 1990-1991 Mathematics teacher in USA. From 1995 Lecturer in Mathematics Education at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Aalborg University. 1996-1997 Mathematics teacher at the Teacher Training College, N. Zahles Seminarium, Copenhagen, on a one-year leave from Aalborg University. Member of the Board of "Forum for Matematikkens Didaktik", appointed here to represent the research in mathematics education at the Danish Commission of Mathematics Education, alias ICMI Denmark.
Iben does research in the Mathematics Education at High School level and teacher training. She has worked with education in applied mathematics and mathematical modelling, particularly with creating a connection between theory and practice.

Lena Lindenskov
M.Sc. in Mathematics and Social Science at Roskilde University 1980. High School teacher at "Solrød Gymnasium og HF" and at the "Det frie Gymnasium". From 1988 worked on the SHF-Initiative (Mathematics Education and Democracy). Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at Roskilde University. Worked on a project at the National University of Education 1992-1993. Lectorer at Aalborg University 1993. From 1993 High School teacher at "Stenløse Gymnasium og HF". Analytist for "Arbejdsmarkedsstyrelsen". Consultant in Mathematics Education at Copenhagen University. Now workes with Tine Wedege (see below) on the research project "People's Knowledge about Mathematics in Technologies and during Change". From 1998 Lecturer at the National University of Education, Institute for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Information.
Lena does researh in learning and use of mathematics in and outside the school environment. She has studied the relationship between everyday knowledge and mathmematical knowledge in relation to students' perception of mathematics and their resistance towards learning mathematics.

Tine Wedege
M.Sc. in French and Mathematics at Copenhagen University 1977. M.Sc. in Pedagogy at the National University of Education, 1993. Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from IMFUFA, Roskilde University 2000. Research Fellow the same place. High School teacher 1977-79. From 1980-1997 Education Consultant in "Arbejdsmarkedsstyrelsen". 1986-88 Academic Researcher on a project about "Culture, language, education, and work" for Dansih Refugee Assistance.
Member of the board for "Forum for Matematikkens Didaktik" and the international research forum "Adults Learning Mathematics" (ALM). As Edcuation Consultant she has among other things been a research project co-ordinator for the analysis and development project "FAGMAT" (1995-97) and the interdisciplinary project "Faglig Profil i Matematik" (1994-). Tine's research is broad and within the field of adult education in mathematics.

Ph.D. student Bettina Dahl Søndergaard
M.Sc. in Mathematics and Social Science at Aalborg University 1997, where she wrote her Master thesis in the theory of science and didactics of mathematics.
